Podiatry is a branch of medicine specialising in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle and lower limb.

Here at The Forge Clinic, our podiatrist specialises in Musculoskeletal (MSK) Podiatry and Podiatric Sports Medicine.

They work closely with you to help provide you with an accurate diagnosis of your injury and to speed up your recovery. In your first consultation your podiatrist will take a full medical history and carry out any functional testing of your injury. In addition to this, they may use high- speed video gait analysis to analyse your walking and/or running gait. Lastly, your podiatrist will discuss any issues which may be contributing to your injury.

MSK and Sports Podiatry complaints are often resolved using a combination of therapies. This will depend on the nature of your concern. Your podiatrist will sit down with you to gain an understanding of your concern and injury to provide you with a tailored management plan. This will include rehabilitative exercise prescription. In addition to exercises, they may recommend prefabricated or custom orthotics and/or injection therapies.
